I have been reading posts since 2019 about creaking noises coming from the trunk. Our X3 also started making this sound a few weeks ago, and I am wondering if there is a solution. It is really bothering me! When I first bought the car, the trunk was so quiet that I could only hear the sounds of the electronic components.

At first, I thought it was the trunk lid, so I removed it, but it didn't help. It sounds like the trunk or other parts are rubbing against something when the car body bends. This is especially true when moving at low speeds, such as when going over speed bumps or making U-turns. The car has only been driven 4,000 km.

When I press the plastic part where the trunk lid is attached, it makes a creaking sound. Could this be the cause?

I got home and had it serviced, and the mechanic immediately noticed the squeaking sound. I was told that squeaking or rattling noises are only covered under the one-year warranty.

Anyway, he did fix it, but it was a bit surprising that he fixed it just by applying tape and lubricant. Adam, the mechanic, said he does the exact same thing on his own X5.
